Compared to 2007, 2008 numbers, the 2009 sea ice area is growing. This seems consistent with the cooling we have seen in the past years.
For some reasons, the arctic ice was more affected by warm temperatures than the antarctic ice. In this graph we see the growing of the Antarctic ice cover compared to the declined of the Arctic.

Tous les journals du monde parlent ces jours de la mer antartique et le glace qui est fondant plus rapide.
Mais personne parle de le posible record de surface de glace marine.
